Baby Classes are a dedicated time for you and your Little One to spend time together. This could be having fun at a Singing Class or learning new skills during a Baby Massage or Baby Yoga Course.
Baby Classes can help to provide your Baby / Child with new experiences through simulating activities that can help to develop your Little One’s Physical, Cognitive and Emotional skills.
There are a wide range of Baby Classes available to parents and children, some of these are:
- Baby Massage Courses
- Baby Signing
- Rhyme Time
- Moo Music
- Baby Yoga Courses
- Toddler Yoga Sessions
- Calmer Stories
- Story Stomp
- Baby Dance
- Sensory sessions
- Stay and Play groups
- Baby swim sessions
Many of these can be found in your local area, so give them a try and see which one suits you the best. There might be one Baby Class that your Little One absolutely loves and some they aren’t as interested in.
Baby Classes can help and support your Little One’s development in several ways:
- Fine Motor Skills – Playing instruments or with sensory toys in sessions can help to develop your Little One’s fine motor skills
- Gross Motor Skills – Taking part in an active session such as Baby or Toddler Yoga can help your Little One develop a sense of baby awareness and help to develop bigger body movements.
- Speech and Language – Most sessions have an element of singing and definitely lots of talking. Hearing new language and learning new songs can help develop your Little One’s speech and language.
- Interacting with others – If attending a group session, even a baby one, the babies will have a chance to interact with one another, this may only be looking around the room, but seeing new things and new people can help.
- A chance to relax and have fun together – Some sessions are designed as relaxing sessions such as Baby Massage, so these are a great opportunity to wind down and enjoy just being together whilst relaxing you both. Whereas some sessions such as Toddler Yoga or Rhyme Time are designed to be more active and fun sessions, so you both let off a bit of steam, be silly together and have some fun! Depending on what you are aiming to get out of the session really depends on which session you choose.
- A chance for you both to meet parents with children of a similar age – Chances are there will be parents with similar aged babies or children in your sessions as most sessions are broken down into age categories, so this is your chance to know your not alone in those testing times, we find ourselves in. It can also be good for your Child to interact with Children of a similar age and start to learn about other people and learning to share.
- Learn new skills – Taking a session like Baby Massage, Baby Yoga or Baby Sign you will learn new skills from these sessions. Baby Sign can help you and your Little One communicate together whereas Baby Massage can help you learn to massage your baby safely whilst learning how to help them with symptoms of colic, trapped wind and teething.
- Quality time out of your daily routine – Taking some time out of your normal routine can be good for your mental health. The endless list of chores and jobs to do at home can become mind numbing, so taking a little time out, can help you return with a renewed sense of purpose.
- A chance to get out of the house – Taking part in a group session often takes place out of the home and this can be good for your mental health. A change of sensory can be good for both of you.
